Forteo (teriparatide) is an injectable prescription medication indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men who are at high risk for fracture, as well as for men and women with osteoporosis associated with prolonged systemic glucocorticoid therapy. It contains a synthetic form of parathyroid hormone that helps stimulate new bone formation, increases bone mineral density, and reduces the likelihood of fractures.
